The building work at Fountain Square Church is making excellent progress since it started on 18th June. Demolition of the “old garage up the yard” is complete and the ground is now being prepared for construction of the new extension to the building. This will create kitchen / toilets / storage / office space as well as a new glass-fronted main entrance and reception area. Fountain Street was closed for a few days in July for gas works and we hope residents were not inconvenienced too much.
We are currently looking at commercial style kitchen designs which will give us a superb facility to be enjoyed by both community and church users of the newly renovated building. A specialist contractor for its installation will shortly be appointed.
We hope that the project will complete within its 24 week estimated timescale, which would enable us to open the new building in time for Christmas 2018. That would indeed be a wonderful present for everyone!!
