BPS Rocks!

The junior children at Bishop Pursglove School can always be relied on to provide an end of year production that raises the spirits. They took that rather literally this year with performances of the The Rocky Monster Show on 10 and 12 July.
An ex-pop star turned professor of genetics (and, of course, descendant of Baron Frankenstein) uses computer technology and a couple of naïve assistants (and some not so naïve ones), to create DNA moulds of people. Lightning brings them to life and the ultimate rock group is created, headed by a clone of Elvis. The local villagers, become concerned about strange happenings at the professor’s castle, fearing “doom”, “Doom” and “DOOOOMMM!” The professor tries to placate the villagers and the police inspector, by hosting a rock concert for them, but it all ends in disaster!
Shock! Horror!
The children were all fantastic and clearly had enjoyed rehearsing and performing what was a really fun and energetic production. The children, first and foremost, should be congratulated for their hard work in delivering such great performances and displaying an amazing array of acting, singing and dancing talent. The staff and crew off stage also did an incredible job in bringing everything together, including the props and scenery and the many lighting and sound effects. And a “well done” to parents for supplying some excellent costumes and make up too.
As the song “Elvis” sang said, it will be a “Hard Act to Follow”.
This is also an opportunity to wish every success for the future to all of the Year 6 children, as they leave the school at the end of this summer term and look forward to the exciting opportunities that await them at secondary school.
And finally, a huge thank you to Jennie Thurston for her long and very successful career as a teaching assistant at the school. Jennie will be sorely missed and we wish her the very best for her retirement!
