Derbyshire County Council (DCC) are proposing to remove the bus subsidy grant that funds most of our bus services. Should the proposal go ahead then most of the bus services serving our area could be cut or discontinued. The proposal has nothing to do with concession or free travel.
DCC consultation period has opened – posters have been displayed at main bus stops. If you would like to express your views then you have until Sunday 24th April to participate.
You can participate in the consultation in one of two ways:
1. Complete the online form www.derbyshire.gov.uk/transportchanges click the large green open button at top of page to open consultation form or scroll down the page to the “How to take part” section, the form will then open.
2. Paper version is available from Tideswell library, you can complete there or send by post.
Bus services are vital in our area as the services serve Tideswell, Litton, Great Hucklow and Millers Dale. The services are not that frequent so they need to be maintained.

Our bus services provide important connections for employment, students travelling to local colleges and university, shopping, access to our Doctors Surgery, attending hospital appointments in Chesterfield/Sheffield and Stockport. Importantly the bus services provide access from major towns for walkers/tourists, when they visit our area they spend money in our local cafes, pubs, restaurants, shops etc. We need a vibrant local economy. If you are a local business owner then you can also participate in the consultation.
