Many people in the Village will be aware that Bishop Pursglove Primary School have been pursuing the goal of erecting a small wind turbine, on the mound behind the school, over several years. We are glad to report that project is very close to fruition and the delays and complications are almost overcome. Although the funding has largely been in place for a while there has been a need recently to find additional funds to cover unforeseen expenses. Don’t worry we are not asking for money!
An application was made to Waitrose’s Community Matters Fund and the turbine project has been chosen as one of the causes in December. We would like to encourage anyone from the village and surrounding area to support this project when visiting Waitrose, if you get this issue in time!) by placing the green token in the box marked Bishop Pursglove School Wind Turbine Project.
The turbine is primarily intended as an educational resource which would demonstrate alternative energy in action and provide real data for the children to use in maths and science lessens. Any income would be used to insure and maintain the turbine and if there is extra available it would be used for environmental education in school and environmental enhancement of the school grounds and adjacent site.
