High Peak Foodbank

Happy New Year to all our generous supporters whose donations helped people in difficult circumstances, especially over Christmas. 2014 was a busy year but with support from local individuals, churches and community groups we provided 1,373 people with nearly 29,000 emergency meals.

A new Hope Foodbank opened in October, serving the Tideswell area as well as the Hope Valley. We have made many new links and begun to take referrals from local GPs, NHS workers, health visitors, Citizen’s Advice, churches and schools.

Based at Hope Methodist Church in Edale Road, in the first month it provided more than 240 meals for families in need, as well as toiletries, nappies, warm clothing and even a frying pan.

High Peak Foodbanks welcome all donations of non-perishable food (tins, jars, cereals, UHT milk) and toiletries. In the New Year we are working with local Children’s Centres to improve dental hygiene, and are particularly looking for toothbrushes (new, packaged) including those for younger children, and toothpaste (especially suitable for younger children).

A box for donations is at the back of St John’s Parish Church in Tideswell.
