High Peak Foodbank sends thanks for the many extra bags of donations sent by churches, schools and individuals during harvest season: “Your generosity has boosted our stocks substantially and will help over the coming cold months,” said co-ordinators Paul Bohan and Lizzie Walton.
A new Hope Valley Foodbank is now open Mondays and Fridays 5.30-6.30pm, based at Hope Methodist Church on Edale Road and covering the Tideswell area as well as the Hope Valley, Bradwell and Peak Forest. As at Buxton, clients in need are referred by support agencies.
Christmas events supporting the foodbanks include: Carol Concert: Dec 3rd 2.30pm Buxton Dome; Hoe Down: Dec 6th 7-10pm, United Reformed Church, Buxton (tickets: 01298 73313); Victorian Christmas Festivities: (craft market, lantern parade and nostalgia) Dec 7th 2-6pm Old Glossop.
