Members of our churches brightened up a December Saturday morning with an hour of carol singing outside the Co-op on 14th. Though I say it myself, it really sounded very good, and brought smiles to lots of faces! And thanks to Tideswell Stores for providing us with a collection bucket, and to Tindalls who brought over some very welcome hot fruit punch and gingerbread men as we finished!
We sang in aid of EMBRACE the Middle East, a charity that supports projects in that part of the world. Here’s an example of what they do: “Yazan is nine years old and has spina bifida. His family survives on just £110 a month, so when Yazan needed a new wheelchair, there was no way they could afford one. Thanks to Embrace’s support of the Bethlehem Arab Rehabilitation Society, Yazan received a specially adapted wheelchair free of charge. He’s doing so much better at school now. One child given opportunity in Bethlehem.” That morning we raised £61.20, and later in the month (but after Village Voice’s copy date), we sang at Nicholson Court and around the village pubs. All money raised will be sent to Embrace this month. Thank you to all who gave their support.
