RIP Sheila

Sheila Hunter from Millers Dale died on 29th November 2013 aged 86. Sheila was an enthusiastic and loyal member of Tideswell Artability, only missing meetings when she had to visit hospital. She was known for her wicked sense of humour as well as for her artistic abilities. Her work was reproduced in the annual calendar, and usually featured flowers portrayed in watercolour, pastel or acrylic.

However, Sheila also loved animals and often welcomed visiting pets into her home. Being housebound in her last years, she opted for life sized soft toys rather than real thing and her large doberman could be seen on guard if you looked through her cottage window. She also owned a large toy chimpanzee and the last time I saw this creature it was wearing a scarlet thong, embroidered with the phrase “Jingle Bells”.

We will miss you Sheila.
