The much loved Italian film, Il Postino, is this month’s choice at Tideswell Cinema. Set in 1950s Italy, the famous Chilean poet Pablo Neruda is exiled to a small island, where the son of a fisherman is hired to hand deliver his letters. Though poorly educated, the young postman develops a love of poetry and eventually befriends Neruda. Struggling to grow and express himself more fully, he falls in love with a beautiful girl, and needs Neruda’s help more than ever.
Beautifully produced, this delightful film will be shown at 19.30 on Thursday 10 October at the George, and guest members are welcome to join our regular members – tickets are £4.75. And to kick off the evening, landlord Andrew will be pleased to serve you with a meal.
