The Annual Parish Meeting on May 13th at 6.30 p.m. was cancelled at ‘the eleventh hour’ when it was revealed that the protocol for advertising the meeting had been incorrect. The new date for the meeting is 28th May 2013, at 7.00 p.m.,at the Fountain Square church, and will be advertised accordingly.
The Parish Council apologises for the inconvenience to the residents who attended.
No members of the public attended the normal monthly meeting which was held from 7.15 p.m. that same evening.
The Public Toilets were discussed again, and the cleaning contract will be put out to tender following a report from the British Toilet Association. (A body which most people did not realise existed.) Dog toilet requirements were also discussed again. The bin at the Cliffe has been deemed fit for purpose by the District Council, but the Parish Council does not agree. This issue has been ongoing for some months. A new bin will be purchased by the Parish Council, to replace the existing one.
The Council fulfilled its financial obligations, and paid outstanding invoices in the normal manner, cheques being signed and checked by four different individuals, before being countersigned by the Chairman. Planning matters were dealt with in the routine manner.
The Town Head playground equipment repairs will take place shortly. The trees have been lopped, in accordance with the directive from The Derbyshire Police. The car park adjacent to the play area is designated for use of cars bringing children to the area for safety reasons. The surface will be repaired and residents are asked to respect the facility, by leaving it free for use by play area users. The next full Parish Council monthly meeting will take place at the library on Monday 10th June at 7.15 p.m. Residents are always welcome to attend these meetings, and there is a slot reserved at the beginning of the meeting for the public to speak on any Parish Council issues.
