Tideswell School of Food

It is now more than two years since the School of Food was established since when the business has been developing well.

As a Social Enterprise Company, all profits are put back into the company with many of the people, including directors, being volunteers. We have created 10 jobs. Where possible we support our local economy and many of our suppliers live and work in the Tideswell area.

Since the school opened, almost 6,000 people have been on courses. In our first year, turnover was just over £30,000. In the second year we achieved £119,000 and in our third year we are expecting to reach £175,000. A great success story for our village in difficult economic times.

In early 2012, the directors reviewed our activities to bring greater stability to the business. We increased the number of courses and introduced new ones to help sustain the growth. Our courses and activities are often supported by volunteers. If you would like to help, please contact us on 01298 871262.

A few directors have left over the last year and we thank them for their incredible efforts in helping establish the school. New directors have joined and we are keen to attract more. Please contact us for details.

Many residents regularly learn new skills at the school ranging from brewing to baking. If you would like to help or make suggestions for future courses, please call in at the school whenever we are open.
