WAKES 2013

Wakes Week is nearly here. We cannot believe how fast time has flown and Wakes Week will soon be upon us!

It was great to see so many of you at the Food Festival supporting the Tideswell Wakes Team and orders have been placed for the I Heart Tidza Wakes merchandise!! We are really pleased so many have caught the Tidza Wakes ‘€˜bug’€™. It is great to see everyone contributing by putting posters in windows, buying raffle tickets, quizzes and guessing the number of sweets in the jar!

Others are currently planning how to decorate houses or even streets, deciding on fancy dress costumes or what theme your Carnival Procession entry will be this year!

As with all the events the Wakes Committee is organising, our main aim is to make them all enjoyable and fun for all but ultimately safe for everyone who will be getting involved or spectating. This is particularly true for the highlight of Wakes Week: the Big Sat’€™dy Carnival Procession!

To help us plan the procession as efficiently as possible (we have had an increased interest this year with more people wanting to take part and more marching Bands visiting us) we really need everyone who wishes to enter a float to sign-up with us before 5 p.m. on Friday 28th June.

All you need to do is call myself or Nicky (numbers below). When you sign up we will need to take some basic details such as the type of vehicle, the theme, whether it will have music playing on the float. This will be a massive help and allow us to preplan the procession so we can ensure everyone gets a really good position in the procession to showcase both the floats and the Bands.

It is also our duty to make you aware that the Tideswell Wakes Festivities Insurance will not cover any vehicle in the procession in the unlikely event that a motor accident occurred. Please therefore ensure that the vehicle you are using as a float is sufficiently insured and covered for the event.

The other important news is that we are very proud to announce that we have elected our Wakes Royalty for this year. They will be making their official debut during Wakes Week and you can learn more about our lovely Royalty in the Wakes Programme. Programmes will be on sale in the usual outlets from early June!

We wish everyone a very happy and safe Wakes Week.
