Tidza Ramblers

The group hadn’t really anticipated good weather in January but we were so lucky. Though the temperature was low the warmth of the sun on our faces was wonderful as we enjoyed the first coffee stop en route to Longstone Edge, as indeed it was later when we had lunch at the top.

There was a comment that we should have brought bikinis but I didn’t respond, knowing that my days in any kind of swimwear are probably over. Views were excellent all day, especially those from the cairn on top of Longstone Moor. We also saw alpacas and highland cattle. It’s surprising that even in familar areas we often come across paths new to us and the attractive path from the cairn down to Great Longstone was one of these. There we admired a Diamond Jubilee mosaic. The consensus was that this was one of the best walks we’ve had.
