PARISH COUNCIL MATTERS

The parish council meets at the Library, behind the Parish Church, on the second Monday of each month.

If these meetings are re-scheduled for any reason, the alternative date is given on the parish notice board, in the Gratton Gardens. Members of the public are welcome to attend any of these meetings. A period of ten minutes is given at the start of each meeting, for the public to speak to the council.
The schedule of meeting dates will be displayed on the notice board shortly.
At the January meeting councillors were delighted to learn that the new obituary/ funeral notice board has been sited in the Gratton Gardens. Residents had been upset about arrangements in the recent past. Council chairman Phil Swarbrick will administrate the service which is free to all residents.
A card, either postcard size or A5 with funeral details etc may be given to him and he will display it.
We hope residents will agree that the board is both tasteful and respectfully crafted. If further details are needed, Phil may be contacted during normal working hours on 871862, when a message may be left.
The cemetery group reported that flowers had been thrown around again, and used Christmas holly has been dumped. The whole area is to be tidied yet again and there will be new planting in the Garden of Remembrance, when the weather permits.
Derbyshire County Council have been contacted about improving the supply of salt/grit for the grit bins as the icy weather continues. Good comments have been received about the snow clearing, although one lady has asked that it should not start quite so early in the day.
Dog owners are asked to be considerate and not to allow their dogs to foul gateways, into gardens, playgrounds or fields. Diseases such as Toxocara can be transmitted by dog fouling, and these areas are frequented by children.
There will be further discussion about the public toilets, and the cost of refurbishment and maintenance.
