We resigned separately and at different times between July and September and we each had no intention of entering into acrimonious correspondence, feeling that our resignations made our increasing concern obvious. However, the recent article by Gordon Rooke in The Village Voice necessitates a reply.
We most definitely did not prevent discussion of budget. A resolution was passed unanimously in June to properly assess the parish assets and draw up a budget. By the July meeting Cllrs Evans, Evans and Rooke wanted this to be indefinitely postponed in favour of a review of procedure. We did not withhold information. Information we tried to convey was ignored. It is true that we insisted that the clerk be present at all meetings of councillors but this was a result of our long-standing concern that Cllr. A. Evans was acting independently without reference to the council as a whole. After her husband, J. Evans, joined in June it was clear that decisions were being made by them, in collaboration with Cllr Rooke, without our knowledge or consent.
