Peak Music Society – New season begins

Peak Music Society’s 57th season begins in September with the first of an exceptional
programme of concerts at the Cavendish Hall, Edensor, with a total of six musical
events, two of which will be afternoon performances, which are becoming increasingly
popular.

The season opens on September 25 with Sarah Williamson and the Piatti Quartet. Sarah
is renowned as a virtuoso clarinettist and has performed around he world at venues such
as Carnegie Hall, the Royal Albert Hall and the Berlin Concerthaus. She has collaborated
with numerous leading orchestras and is regularly heard on BBC Radio 3.

The Piatti Quartet recently performed at the Buxton International Festival. Since their
prizewinning performances at the 2015 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet
Competition, they have performed worldwide and made many international broadcasts.
Together with Sarah Williamson, they epitomise Peak Music’s stated aim of bringing the
world’s best music to local audiences.

The 2025/26 season continues on October 21 with The Portrait Players, an all-female
trio specialising in 17th and 18th century music. They are regular performers at the leading festivals and their playing has been described as “beguiling”.

Further concerts will feature the Galliard Wind Ensemble, Kosta Popovic (cello) and the
Connaught Brass. The finale on April 16, 2026, will be the Society’s regular jazz event,
this time a visit from Jacqui Dankworth and Charlie Wood.

Membership of the Society has been again held at £90, which represents exceptional
value for six concerts and tickets can also be purchased for individual events. Details
can be found on the Society’s website.
