Tideswell Theatre’s autumn season begins at 7:30pm on Thursday 24th October when Ridiculusmus theatre company comes to Tideswell Community Hall with Alas! Poor Yorick, a comedy retake on those well-known gravediggers. Mundane, magical, banal idiocy, cinematic elegance, groans, grunts and Shakespearean asides! A beautiful and often moving contemporary meditation on work, faith and existence with some knock about humour too! Brought to the village by Tideswell Theatre through Live and Local. Tickets £13 (£12 concessions).
On Wednesday 30th October at 7:30pm Make Good – The Post Office Scandal is performed in a joint 50th anniversary production by New Perspectives and Pentabus theatre companies. New Perspectives have visited Tideswell many times before – their shows are excellent and this will be no exception. This brand-new musical explores the shocking details of the scandal that is still shaking the country and which left an indelible mark on many communities. Entirely innocent sub-postmasters had their lives torn apart and face bankruptcy, isolation, and jail for crimes that were never committed, for debts that never existed. Directly informed by conversations with affected sub-postmasters, Tideswell Theatre is very excited to bring this important show to Fountain Square hall. Tickets £15 (£14 concessions).
As Make Good is hot on the heels of Alas! Poor Yorick please come to both! There’s an option for a small discount on Make Good tickets if you also buy tickets for Alas! Poor Yorick. In addition Pentabus offer some free tickets to under 25s (contact joanna@pentabus.co.uk for more information). Lots of reasons to see the shows!
Both venues are superb and there will be the usual pre-show and interval bars for ticket holders, serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks at Tideswell Community Hall and non-alcoholic drinks only at Fountain Square where we’re proud to be working with the amazing Gipsy Smith’s Temperance Bar again. You can order drinks when you buy your tickets, or pay in cash or by card on the night. Tickets can be bought at www.ticketsource.co.uk/tideswelltheatre or reserved in advance via info@tideswelltheatre.org.uk and are usually still available on the door (cash or card).
