Gardening for Wakes

Tideswell Kitchen Garden is now full of life, helped by a growing number of volunteers. The Wednesday Lunch Club is already enjoying produce from the garden, including rhubarb (there was enough crumble to feed the actors in The God Particle too!), lettuce and pea shoots.

We’ll be open to visitors during Wakes Week, and hosting a variety of activities over the two weekends. As with the Food Festival, we will be available to show you around and tell you about the different fruit and vegetables that we have been growing. Anyone who visits will be more than welcome to get involved with the gardening, and if you like you can plant a seed in a pot for free, to take away with you and nurture at home. There will also be another plant sale – ask at the Wakes stall to find out exactly what’s on when.

If you complete the quiz below correctly and bring it along to the garden, you’ll be entered in a competition to win a prize. Remember, you can always join us (and if you help, you can help yourself!) – the best time to meet us is on the first Saturday of the month, at 10 am. Alternatively email Helen Grainger at wh.grainger@hotmail.co.uk<mailto:wh.grainger@hotmail.co.uk>, call Judy Cooke on 01298 872408, or contact us on Facebook via the ‘Tideswell Kitchen Garden’ group.
