Hi Pete
pls put in next edition…………………..
Tideswell & District Voluntary Organisation (TADVO) continue their hard work to rebuild a new facility to permanently home both the Band and the Scouts and Cubs. The new building will also provide a much needed village community hall which will be available to everyone. We are bound by the terms of our lease with DCC to replace the former youth club building with a suitable structure and monies have already been raised specifically for this purpose. The need for a village hall has been high-lighted in a recent questionnaire organised by the Parish Council via the Village Voice. In a recent communication to TADVO, TPC stated that ‘ in principle the PC do not support TADVO’s plans to rebuild the former youth club’. The reason given was dilution of both effort and funding. Whilst we are completely supportive of the PC’s vision to provide a village hall at some point in the future we are responding to the immediate need of both the band and scouts to find a permanent home in a relatively short timescale. Far from jeopardising the PC from reaching their goal we see no reason why our project should dilute their efforts. After all, this building has served the village since the 1950’s and we simply propose to replace it. Tideswell has lost the Methodist church Hall and it is clear that a village of this size can make good use of at least two community buildings. We hope to hold an open evening in the near future to generate village support and publicise the latest information regarding planning and fundraising.
