What a wonderful village we live in!

Those of you who live or commute around Town Head, or walk your dogs up here will have noticed that we have gained a significant but ugly addition to our stone outbuilding – in the shape of a large hole.

Yet again, an articulated delivery lorry tried to find a shortcut from the A623 to Holdsworths, and managed to tear a large section of our wall out in the process. Sadly, and perhaps this is an example of the world we live in now, the driver did not stop to acknowledge the damage.
But Tideswell stepped up to the plate.

Thanks to all our neighbours who offered information about the lorry, it’s markings (or lack of them) and even the registration number. Special thanks to the Sparks and the Warhursts for providing everything we needed to track down the operator. Even Shirts Farm offered up their cctv recording of the lorry leaving the scene. No-one actually witnessed the damage being caused, but with such overwhelming evidence of that ONE lorry being outside OUR house at the PRECISE time the incident occurred persuaded the operator to take a long look at his trailer whereupon he did find scratches with embedded grey stone!

Without the amazing community spirit (it would have been so easy NOT to get involved) of our village, we would have had to face clearing up the mess ourselves.

By naming people, I am bound to miss someone out, but we owe a special thank-you to Sally & Hannah as well as Alan & Rebecca.

Thanks everyone.
