Tideswell Cinema Live

Tideswell Cinema kicks off July with an uplifting West End musical – Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, live from the Apollo Theatre on Thur 5 July, 7.20pm, upstairs at the George Inn.
Inspired by a true story about a 16-year-old who wants to become a drag queen, the show is actually about being true to yourself, the power of friendship and another’s love.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie was a joyous hit when it premiered at Sheffield’s Crucible last year, quickly transferring to the West End where it won three What’s On Stage awards and five Olivier award nominations. A film version has just been announced.

Then on WedJuly 18 at 7pm we welcome Shakespeare’s tortured teenage lovers, Romeo and Juliet, live from the RSC at Stratford. The Daily Telegraph’s critic gave it 4 stars, saying: ‘This must be the most fleet-footed account of Romeo and Juliet since West Side Story. Erica Whyman has done something bold, which is to incorporate a handful of pupils from schools across the country; their freshness rubs off onto the rest of the cast.’

Finally on Sat July 28 at 7pm we finish the month with music: a light and summery outdoor concert from Andre Rieu and his 60-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra, playing in the medieval square of Andre’s home-town, Maastricht.

Called Amore, My Tribute to Love, the concert features classic love songs from the worlds of popular and classical music, with sopranos, tenors and special guests. Dress up for the occasion if you wish!

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is £15 (£12.50 concessions), Romeo and Juliet is £10, andAndre Rieu £15 (no concessions).
