CINEMA SEASON

Friday 10th November 7.30pm.

‘Salt of the Earth’
(108mins)

Made in 1954 in Mexico it’s the story of a long and difficult strike by miners in 1951. Filmed by artists blacklisted by Hollywood for their liberal beliefs and refusing to testify against others and the only film in US history to be blacklisted and kept out of cinemas. With a cast of largely non-professional actors, the film shows the Union fight, the womens rights struggle and mining safety issues. A history lesson not to be missed! Bakewell Town Hall 7.30pm, tickets at the door £5.
