The Friends of Bishop Pursglove School would like to say a massive thank you to all involved in making their Late Summer Barbecue Party a great success. Postponed from the original date in July, which saw heavy rainfall, the mid-September weekend was blessed with sunshine and a great time was had by all. While dads were serving up delicious barbecue fare, the fabulous Sparky Marky kept the children entertained with his boundless energy and magic show.
With an amazing array of homemade cakes and cream teas, a licensed bar and beautiful setting, there really was something for everyone. We raised £600 which will go towards much-needed new playground equipment for the school children.
Special thanks go to the custodians of the beautiful Kitchen Garden, St John’s Institute and Old Grammar School for allowing us to use their sites, which together provided a the perfect venue. John and Nikki Turton worked especially hard, erecting gazebos and devising an interesting garden quiz for the children.
A huge thank you to The Bulls Head at Foolow for very kindly donating a barrel of Barnsley Bitter, which was very much appreciated, as were the delicious cakes and tray bakes contributed by Tindalls, High Nelly’s, The Cherry Tree and The Peak District Dairy.
Finally thank you to Holdsworth’s for all their generously discounted supplies and to everyone who came along to make the evening so special.
We’re already planning to do it again next year, so please bring your friends and families along and join in the fun – everyone’s welcome!
