This year we are pleased to boast a full bloom of garden companion flowers in addition to fruit and veg, including a wild meadow in a wheelbarrow (why not try this at home?!), and poppies on our wild bank, planted by Tideswell children on 4 May to commemorate the centenary of WW1 (one poppy is still standing).
We’ve got new projects on the go as well, with a new espalier frame at the top of the garden that we can use to train our apple trees; and hopefully some of our harvest can be entered into the Allotment Show on 3 September.
If you have an interest in flowers, fruit, veg or cookery (there is nothing more inspiring than a garden of fresh produce), do come and join in the fun. There’s no pressure, just the opportunity to have a go when you’re around.
The best time to meet us is on the first Saturday of the month, at 10 am. Alternatively email Helen Grainger at wh.grainger@hotmail.co.uk<mailto:wh.grainger@hotmail.co.uk>, call Judy Cooke on 01298 872408, or contact us on Facebook via the ‘Tideswell Kitchen Garden’ group.
