Tunnel vision

Tideswell hospitlity with much appreciated refreshments awaited the intrepid Team I Cantati di Tidza who rode the 30 mile Eroica route on Sunday 19 June. Earlier they had been singing with a group of Tideswell Singers greeting fellow cyclists as they embarked on ‘the world’s most handsome ride’! The sonorous acoustic of the tunnel enhanced the well-blended voices singing a selection of favourite pieces ranging from energetic African chant to atmospheric unaccompanied sacred pieces and the obligatory rendition of ‘Daisy, Daisy’.
Many of the cyclist commented on the magic of the moment and how it made the day special. The spirit of the day was summed up as the team returned to Bakewell Showground in formation; singing, cycling and blinking back the tears at the enthusiatic applause which welcomed them back!
Tideswell Singers will be in their more usual guise as they join the celebrations in Eyam Village Day, 9 July. The choir’s end of season concert will be in The Peveril Centre, Castleton at 7:30pm on Wednesday 13 July.
This will be a fund-raising event for The Air Ambulance. Admission £5 (payable on the door) includes light refreshments. Tideswell Singers’ rehearsals recommence Wednesday 7:30 14 September, meeting in Litton Church where rehearsals are held every second Wednesday of the month. New singers always welcome!
