Veg recipes and shopping locally

After reading the pieces in last month’s village voice about shopping locally and using home grown vegetables I’d like to add my thoughts.

If you can’t grow your own vegetables what better place to acquire them than at Peach’s. You can buy fresh vegetables every day (except Sundays) – better than a big weekly supermarket shop for veg. which are then half dead by the end of the week!

Vicki stocks the large garlic bulbs which are rarely available elsewhere. The cloves are so much easier to peel than the smaller ones. Next time you roast a chicken try stuffing it with unpeeled garlic cloves and scatter a few round it. The resulting pulp squeezes out of the skin very easily and is delicious.

Alternatively cut a lemon into quarters and stuff the chicken with it.
