As many people are probably aware the Tideswell & District Community Association have funded the acquisition of a Defibrillator, that is located in the Co-op, for anyone to use should the need arise (I sincerely hope it doesn’t!). At a recent meeting of the Tideswell Surgery Patient Participation Group the subject of training came up. The PPG have now organised a free resuscitation training session to be carried out by James Hornby, the Community Resuscitation Trainer from the East Midlands Ambulance Service. The session will take place on the 12th of April at 3 o’clock and will be held in the communal lounge at Nicholson Court in Chantry Lane, refreshments will be provided.
James tells me “The session will last approximately 60 – 90 minutes depending on attendance and will cover a brief introduction to cardiac arrest and the chain of survival, performing basic life support and using the defibrillator. There will be the opportunity for people to have a go and practice if they so wish.”
