Inspiration was lacking for this month’s article. We did have two pleasant walks to Monks Dale and Cressbrook however not much happened on either and repeated description of familiar places isn’t interesting.
Timely indeed was the arrival of the friendly village gardener who said helpfully that if she were to accompany us on future walks there would never be any shortage of material!
Actually something of note did occur as we walked back through Litton. I’ve often stopped to read the thought provoking verse on a cottage wall next to the path. On this occasion a door opened and the owner appeared. She told us that the subject of the poem was Oscar Wilde and that she’d copied it in her best teacher’s handwriting.
A walk is planned for the Manifold Valley. Newcomers are welcome, especially those with green fingers.
