I really wanted my first contribution to the Village Voice to be on a topic more inspirational than bin collections! But as I write there are still two weeks’ worth of uncollected rubbish cluttering the street and this has become a regular occurrence in recent months.
Gordon Road is narrow and many residents and visitors are forced to park on the lane, making access for large bin lorries difficult. Derbyshire Dales Council insist that the recent spate of missed collections along Gordon Road are due to parked cars blocking access.
The council’s waste management team say they have put a smaller collection lorry on the route and respond as soon as they know that the bins have been missed, but it is up to the residents and holiday-let owners to ensure that parked cars are not blocking access on Mondays.
Please try your best to keep the lane clear and if collections are missed call DDDC on 01629 761 122 to report it.
