It was a cold dark night in Tideswell as we braved the melting snow to head to BPS to watch the Christmas Infant nativity. It proved to be worth it as the children told a lovely story with many catchy songs.
Entitled ‘A Little Bird Told Me’, the story followed a robin as she joined a flock of birds flying south to Bethlehem to see the baby Jesus. On the way they saw some stars shining brightly to show them they were heading in the right direction. Then they met some shepherds who abandoned their sheep to join them. The sheep were frightened to be left alone and proved to be the highlight of the night as the sang for the shepherds to ‘Come Baaaahhhhck Soon’, a real show-stopping number!
The birds then saw some angels who helped them on their way and told them to look out for camels travelling with Wise Men. When the birds met the Wise Men with their camels they knew they had arrived at the stable. However, the birds were worried that they didn’t have a present to give to baby Jesus like the Wise Men, but the Wise Men suggested they sang a song. An exuberant rendition of ‘We’ve Found Jesus’ brought the Nativity to an end. Britain’s Got Talent had better watch out.
It was a wonderful performance and the children really enjoyed themselves. So much so we were treated to two encores. I’ll certainly be coming baaaahhhhck next year.
