Tideswell Cycling Group

Did you know that over 30 people cycled out from Tideswell to watch the Tour de France? And large numbers of the community turned out to watch, assist and generally support L’Eroica? Are you interested in being part of one of the fastest growing sports in the UK but are not sure how to start or how to keep riding during the winter? Maybe you cycle regularly but don’t know anyone to go with.

We are interested in forming a local cycling group. This is not a club, as such, and there are no joining fees (bonus), just an informal friendly group. We usually meet on a Sunday morning in Fountain Square at 9.30 for a short ride followed by a café stop. As most of us have family commitments we aim to be out for about 2-2 1/2hrs, and be back by lunch time at the latest.

Our aim is to create a friendly inclusive group and we welcome Road and Mountain Bikers. As Sunday is a “road Ride” we plan to hold a regular mid-week mountain bike ride on Thursday evenings and possibly Saturdays if there is enough interest.

Experienced and novice cyclists are equally welcome. All you need is a roadworthy bike, a helmet, a spare inner tube and pump.

If you are already an experienced cyclist come along and help others get into this wonderful sport.

Our first Sunday road ride is on 30th November at 9.30 and the Thursday MTB ride will be 4th December at 7.00 (approx. 1-1 1/2hrs lights essential).

If there is enough interest we aim to create a Facebook page to publish route details in advance etc.

If you would like to be come along just turn up, but if you have any further questions or would like more information please contact Graham Malcolm on 07502248644 or email gfmalcolm@btinterenet.com.
