This month we are showing a Chilean film that was nominated for Best Foreign Language film at the Oscars, and which has been chosen after the highest of recommendations.
It is “No”, and is based on the referendum that President Augusto Pinochet called in 1988. The leaders of the opposition persuade a young advertising executive to head their campaugn to win the election, in order to free their country from oppression.
It will be shown on Thursday 27th November at 7.30pm, upstairs in the George Inn, and non-members are welcome to come along (£4.75 guest membership for the evening). The landlord of the George will be happy to serve you with a meal before the film to make it an extra special evening.
