Mary’s Meals

A packed out institute of coffee and tea drinkers enjoyed the hospitality of the Guides and Brownies at their Coffee Evening to raise money and backpacks for Mary’s Meals, a project in which they have worked with Soroptimist International of Buxton. This is a unique example of two organisations of women and girls joining together to improve the lives of children in the Third World.

The Guides made excellent and attentive hostesses serving coffee, selling cakes and raffle tickets and the Brownies entertained us with their singing.

Everyone over a wide age range enjoyed themselves, a great many backpacks and contents were donated and the amazing sum of £421.07 was raised on the night all from filling water bottles with spare cash. Another £85-40 was raised from the display in Church.

A wonderful example of the enormous generosity of the people of Tideswell.

With many thanks to everyone.
