A Farrier’s Life

Miller’s Dale & District WI met in Litton Village Hall on Wednesday 10th. September for their first meeting since July.

The business meeting included discussing the very enjoyable outing to Feeley Priory, the Autumn Federation meeting and plans for The Centenary Meeting. Future outings include a visit, next March, to Media City in Manchester.

The speaker, Mr. Doug Bradbury then spoke about ‘The Life and Times of a Farrier’.

Mr. Bradbury started his talk by showing us all different types of horse shoes and some old implements. He then went on to tell us many tales about his life with so much humour and insight, the whole room was filled with continuous laughter. We all thoroughly enjoyed his talk and had a most satisfactory and humorous meeting.

The next meeting is on Wednesday 8th. October 7.30pm at our usual venue – Litton Village Hall. The Speaker is Mrs. Anne Whitehill; her talk is entitled ‘Appalachian Dance’

We are always so pleased to welcome new members, friends and visitors to our monthly meetings.
