The Special One

There are many ways to qualify As a pillar of the community From supporting village welfare To promoting village unity Standing for the Parish Council Or a voluntary opportunity

You could sacrifice an hour a week To support a worthy cause Or two hours every Christmas eve To act as Santa Claus. You could visit with the older folk For a natter and a brew Or coach the village youngsters In a sport that interests you

You could be a parish poet Dashing off a Tidza ditty Or offer up your services And assist The Wakes Committee You could be a ‘leading light’ In one of Tidza’s many clubs Or help to run the Rainbows Girl Guides Brownies Scouts or Cubs

Yes so many ways to serve Our village with distinction And never seek or crave Any particular laudation But what better way to do so Than to show your dedication By helping those in need Of special education?

Therefore let me sing the praises Of a person known to most As a lady with a heart Of purest gold Who after fourteen years of service Is giving up her post. When she leaves they may as well Throw away the mould

So step forward Catherine Dalton And take a well-earned bow Bishop Pursglove School Will never be the same So many are indebted To your patience and know-how You have earned your place In Tidza’s ‘Hall of Fame’

For it takes a special person To perform such special deeds And it needs a special teacher To teach kids with special needs So ‘No way Jose’’ Mourinho If I may intercede? To we good folk of Tideswell Cath’s ‘The Special One’ indeed.
