Good-hearted Tideswell people regularly donate items to Buxton Food Bank, leaving their contributions in a box at the back of St John’s Parish Church. All non-perishable food and toiletries are welcomed, but the current need is particularly for breakfast cereals, pasta sauce, tinned fruit, tinned meat and UHT milk.
Hope Valley residents want to set up their own food bank with help from the Buxton organisers, and they are holding an open meeting to launch the project on Thursday September 18 at St Peter’s Church in Hope. It starts with an information session at 5.30pm followed by the meeting at 6.30pm – anyone interested would be very welcome.
Buxton Food Bank, based at the United Reformed Church, Hardwick Square East, operates with help from volunteers on weekdays 4pm-5.30pm, call 01298 73313.
