Live at the George

Theatre lovers, prepare for a treat this month as Tideswell Cinema presents live broadcasts from the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre and the Young Vic.

First we have the RSC’s Two Gentlemen of Verona on Wednesday September 3 at 7pm, a romantic comedy involving a fickle hero, a determined heroine, cross-dressing and a scene-stealing lurcher.

Then on Thursday September 4 at 7pm from the National Theatre, we have Medea, a powerful Greek tragedy in modern language. Helen McCrory plays a betrayed wife who exacts an appalling revenge on her ruthlessly ambitious husband – a 2,500-year-old story with echoes for our modern times.

Tickets are sold out for the September 16 live performance of A Streetcar Named Desire, Tennessee Williams’ masterpiece from the Young Vic Theatre, starring Gillian Anderson. But there will be an Encore on Sunday Sept 21 at 6pm, so don’t miss the opportunity to see the fastest-selling production in the Young Vic’s history.

Tickets are all £10 each. Book through tideswellcinema@gmail.com or 01298 872993. Cheques (payable to Tideswell Cinema) may be left at Tideswell Stores or posted to Tideswell Cinema, c/o 1 Manchester Rd, Tideswell, SK17 8LL. Please write name of play on back of cheque.
