Parish Council Matters

The Parish Council met twice this month, as there has been much to discuss.

At the beginning of each council meeting, members of the public may attend and speak raise issues of concern. Residents are welcome to sit in and listen to the full Council meetings, but are not allowed to take part, unless specifically invited to do so.

Work at Townhead car park and recreation ground is progressing well. However there have been problems at the Recreation Road playground. Disposable nappies are being left which is irresponsible, unpleasant and a health hazard. Please, if you see anyone doing this, ask them to take away their litter and not leave it where young children play.

Councillor Rob Puckett has tendered his resignation, as he and his wife are to leave the area. We will miss his good humour, and his experience from another parish council which he brought to meetings. We wish him good health and happiness for the future. The casual vacancy will be announced following NALC guidelines. Any Tideswell resident over the age of 21 is eligible to stand as a Parish Councillor.

The current Councillors are : Chairman : Sue Barber (contact sooby@rocketmail.com) Vice Chairman : Pete Hawkins Members: Russell Andrew, Rod Baraona, Jennifer Bower, John Chapman, Mary Landon, Charles Rising, Dorothy Whitehouse

The Council will also be advertising shortly for a Parish Clerk, and a self employed handyman ( or handy woman). The new team will then be complete.

A Derbyshire Dales Housing Needs Officer spoke to the Council and a walkabout has been arranged to tour Tideswell in search of suitable land for housing.

Members of the Council continue to liaise with the District Council about the take-over of the public toilets. Other members have been working with the Peak Park to investigate potentially dangerous trees, which need to be felled or pollarded.

The next full meeting of Tideswell Parish Council is on Monday 11th August at 7.30pm in the Fountain Square Church vestry.
