Members of Buxton branch of the Soroptimists International met in June to discuss the charity, Mary’s Meals. The Backpack project linked to Mary’s Meals means that people who wish to contribute, may give articles to go into a backpack, so that Third World children may attend school, where they will be given a “Mary’s Meal”.
Please phone 01298 77568 if you can help by donating a backpack or school equipment such as pencils etc. Good condition clothes are also needed, which do not have to be new.
The Soroptimists held a stall at the hugely successful Air Ambulance event at the Anchor Inn, Tideswell, where they distributed leaflets.
The group have also been bag-packing again. This time at Marks and Spencer, in aid of Blythe House Hospice. They raised £361.75, which they’ve supported over the year with various fund-raisers.
