Tideswell Cinema has a fantastic programme of live screenings in the next few weeks. This month, on Thursday 17th, the highly anticipated production of David Hare’s play “Skylight” is to be shown, starring Carey Mulligan and Bill Nighy. This is to be screened live from The National Theatre. When first produced in 1995, the play won the Olivier Award for Best Play.
In August we are able to show “Last Night of the Pythons” from the O2 Arena. All the surviving members will be on stage (Eric Idle, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin, Terry Jones – combined age 357!). There will be previously unseen material, and the odd new joke! This is the first time they have performed on stage in England for 40 years – and the last. The live screening is fully booked, but there are still some tickets for the Encore on Thursday 7th August.
Coming up from the National Theatre at the beginning of September, on 4th, is Euripides’ powerful tragedy “Medea”. All these are shown as usual upstairs in the George Inn, and meals are available before the screenings.
