Wow we are nearly at Wakes Week 2014!
We are fast approaching a big week of festivities. Thank you for your continued support and attending the events throughout the year. It was great to see so many of you at the Food Festival supporting the Tideswell Wakes Team.
Please don’t forget to place your order for the exclusive I Heart Tidza Wakes T-Shirts and spread the word any way you can about our Carnival! The only downfall to last year was that everyone made such an blinding effort and contribution to the success of the week that you have set yourself up to do it all over again, whether it be joining in the carnival, decorating your house or yourself please join in and keep the Tidza Wakes flag flying!! The community spirit is an amazing compliment for all those who have been involved with these festivities past and present!
As with all the events the Wakes Committee organise, our main aim is to make them all enjoyable and fun for all but ultimately safe for everyone who will be getting involved or spectating. This is particularly true for the highlight of Wakes Week: the Big Sat’dy Carnival Procession!
To help us plan the procession as efficiently as possible (we have even more interest this year with more people wanting to take part and even more marching Bands visiting us) we really need everyone who wishes to enter a float to sign-up with us before 5pm on Friday 27th June.
Please let myself, Nicky or John (numbers below). When you sign up we will need to take some basic details such as the type of vehicle, the theme, whether it will have music playing on the float. This will be a massive help and allow us to pre-plan the procession so we can ensure everyone gets a really good position in the procession to showcase both the floats and the Bands…..remember we have to be ultra organised as we have the amazing RAF Hurricane flypast at 3pm on Big Sat’dy!
It is also our duty to make you aware that the Tideswell Wakes Festivities Insurance will not cover any vehicle in the procession in the unlikely event that a motor accident occurred. Please therefore ensure that the vehicle you are using as a float is sufficiently insured and covered for the event.
We are welcoming a new Wakes Royalty this year and sadly saying goodbye to our retiring Royalty who did an amazing job for us last year. Please remember to purchase your bumper Wakes Programme – it is very colourful! (unfortunately it does not come with a pair of sunglasses but you will need some as it is going to be sunny this year – positive mental attitude required at all times!) to keep up to date with everything the village has to offer and check out www.tideswellwakes.info for all the latest news and updates.
We wish everyone a very happy and safe Wakes Week and look forward to seeing each and every one of you there!
