History Box Opens

Friday 11th April dawned beautifully bright and sunny, an ideal day for the opening of the village ‘History Box’. We had good press coverage with an excellent report and photo in the local papers, Audrey and Paul spoke to both Radio Sheffield and High Peak Radio and on the day Matt, from Radio Derby came along and spoke to us and of course Dave the winner of the ‘Poetry Competition’. I hope you all listened on Monday 14th when the story of the History Box went on air.

Tony Hill cut the ribbon and the curtain dropped to reveal a re-vamped piece of Tideswell History. Have you stopped by and dialed up a story from our past? Don’t miss out – call in and check out the photographs and see the winning poem displayed on the side of the box.

Our team have worked incredibly hard, putting in many hours of their own time and what an incredible result we have achieved. Thank you to all who came along and supported us. If any of you would like to become involved, especially with the oral history and audio and editing side of things, your help would be appreciated. Why not contact one of us and have a chat.

We would like to acquire more photographs to archive, especially from the 1970s 80s and 90s. Do you have any stashed away in that drawer or old box at the back of the cupboard? if so please share them with us. All originals will be returned to owner.

Our next meeting and AGM will be held at Vanilla Kitchen on Friday 23rd May 2014 at 10 a.m.
