Miller’s Dale & District W. I. held their first meeting after the summer break at their usual venue in Litton Village Hall on Wednesday 11th. September. The meeting was well attended and everyone was really pleased to catch up with other members. Our President, Judy Cooper, welcomed all the members and visitors.
The business part of the meeting then proceeded; plans for a visit to a Mosque in Sheffield were finalised. We had attended The County Quiz – we didn’t come last and the team thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Judy had attended The Tideswell Community Association coffee morning, where all the different organisations in the village were present. Our Christmas lunch has now been booked. We were all reminded again how environmentally bad is the use of plastic bags. One of our members gave us a short report on her weekend attendance at Denman College.
The business meeting ended and Judy then introduced the evening’s Speaker – Mr. Robert Alan-Haver, who gave us a talk entitled ‘The Dolphin Experience’. We all enjoyed listening to his delightful story; he gave us an amazing insight into the life of Dolphins – both the solitary ones and those that live in pods. He told us about some of his incredible experiences swimming with them and how they had changed his life; we were all spell-bound.
The evening then finished with refreshments, and we all felt it had been a really interesting meeting. Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 10th. October – 19.30 in Litton Village Hall. The Speaker will be Sheila Dyson, whose talk is entitled ‘Flight of a 1000 Eyes’.
We are always very pleased to welcome new members, friends and visitors to our monthly meetings. If you require any further information please contact Judy Cooper (01298 872881) if you require any further information.
