We met as usual for our monthly meeting at Litton Village Hall on 12th June. Our business and a report of the WI AGM, which held in Cardiff, were discussed. We had an excellent day trip to Gawsworth Hall and Jodrell Bank. The weather was lovely and we all enjoyed ourselves very much. Members brought plants to sell at our meeting – later than usual due to the poor weather.
The evening’s Speaker was Mr. Peter Wild, and he gave an excellent talk on The Chesterfield Canal. The Project – to clear and reinstate the canal, had taken over 20 years, and was carried out by the sheer determination of the volunteers. The slides showed ‘before and after work’ and were most impressive.
Our next meeting is on the 10th July at 7.30pm at Litton Village Hall; the Speaker will be Mr. John Firth and his talk is entitled ‘Artability’. New members are always welcomed – please contact our President Judy Cooper (01298 871191) with any enquiries or details.
