PARISH COUNCIL MATTERS

At the March meeting no members of the public were present. Residents may attend any monthly meeting, and may put questions to the Council at the beginning of the session. Our next meeting will be in the Library on Monday 8th April at 7.15pm.

Two of the Council employees, Tony and Paul are off work sick at present. We wish them both a speedy recovery. Meantime, Mick is doing a fine job, especially in the wintery conditions.
The Council is to hold a special meeting to discuss the new arrangements for the Public Toilets, and any refurbishment needed. The routine matters of the Council were discussed, and payments made. The report from the cemetery group was disappointing. Following clearance of the site, there has been more fly tipping , waste such as car batteries have been dumped there. The Council is to install CCTV cameras to name and shame those who do this disrespectful and costly tipping. Sadly, there is a problem of a different kind in Bank Square/ Gratton Garden. Dogs are fouling the area which has been covered with bark , under the trees. Please ensure that if you have a dog, it is not allowed to foul what is a quiet resting place for people to sit.
The garden is maintained by volunteers who work hard to keep Tideswell a pleasant place to live.
An enquiry about a planning issue was received. Any decisions are made by the Peak District National Park, and queries should be addressed to them. The Parish Council is able to comment on plans submitted, but does not have the final authority to pass or decline the applications.
The AGM will be held in May and the date and venue will also be announced shortly.
