MS is the result of damage to myelin – a protective sheath surrounding the nerve fibres of the brain and spinal cord. When myelin is damaged, messages are slow, distorted or do not get through at all and cause the symptoms of MS.
MS has periods of relapse and remission, either with a rapid or slow pattern, resulting in a build up of symptoms. These symptoms might be problems with mobility, sensation, vision, balance, memory and fatigue; in fact any function that requires nerves. MS can make life unpredictable. Our Get-Togethers are a chance to natter with other people affected by MS. We are an informal group known for looking on the lighter side of our predicament. You are very welcome whether you are awaiting a diagnosis, newly diagnosed or having had the condition long term. People from anywhere are welcome. We are changing the pattern and timings of our Get-togethers to the last Saturday in the month and changing the time to 2:00pm in the afternoon. So dates and times of our forthcoming meetings are: Saturday 23rd February 2:00pm Saturday 30th March 2:00pm Saturday 27th April 2:00pm Saturday 25th May 2:00pm Saturday 29th June 2:00pm However we are still meeting at Vanilla Kitchen in Tideswell in the Ice Cream Parlour. If you would like more information or a lift please do get in contact on 01298 871820.
