As a member of Tideswell community, I feel a need to voice my concerns regarding this years events involving Tideswell wakes royalty.
The two young ladies in question have carried out their duties in the village with enthusiasm and dignity whenever they have been present.
As an onlooker at the Remembrance Parade this year I was very disheartened to see that they had not laid a wreath, as is tradition in the village, and seemed to have been overlooked and stood at the back of the crowd as if not involved at all.
The same situation was also noted at the community bonfire.
These two delightful young girls have been a delight to watch over the last two years of their service and seemed to have been pushed aside.
Understanding there is now a new wakes committee which hopefully all the village are grateful for, I cant help but think maybe they should remember what hard work and dedication the two young ladies have put in over the last two years.
