We hope you like our new logo reflects a vibrant group of singers who embrace current trends whilst recognising the importance of the familiar.
Tideswell Singers have been in existence for over twenty years and we are continually developing. We are keen for our music making to keep fresh and move forward by approaching music which is new to us.
Our next concert, ‘Christmas Voices’ is at 7:30pm on Wednesday 12 December at The Old Grammar School. What could be more traditional than a mid-December concert telling the Christmas story in cosy surroundings with the promise of mulled wine/fruit punch and mince pies?
So here is the twist – rather than familiar carols, Tideswell Singers will be performing a selection from the Manchester Carols interspersed with reflections from the less prominent characters in the story, written by Buxton based writer, Caroline Small.
The choir, with regular accompanist Sue Clark, will be joined by Buxton U3A Recorder Ensemble with bells adding to the seasonal effect.
‘The Manchester Carols’ were first performed at the Royal Northern College of Music in 2008. As all who worked on them – librettist, Carol Ann Duffy (appointed Poet Laureate in 2009), composer Sasha Johnson Manning, conductor, musicians and children all live in Manchester, that is what they are called.
Tickets (£6, including refreshments) available from Tideswell Stores, Litton Village Shop and on the door.

You can hear traditional carol singing from Tideswell Singers at Litton Christmas Market Friday 7 December, Litton Church Friday 14 December and Chatsworth Courtyard 15 December.
In the New Year we will be working for another Come & Sing event in Tideswell Church Saturday 20 April. We will welcome over one hundred singers to join in sacred music through the centuries in a building that has changed very little over that time.
Tideswell Singers welcomes new singers in all voices. We meet on Wednesdays at 7:30 pm in Litton Village Hall. Please use contact details above if you are interested in joining us.
