2025/26 season was the longest so far. Starting in September and finishing 21st July, we had a strong team throughout, exceeding previous years’ points, finishing 2nd in the High Peak Netball League B division. This has qualified us to move up to the A division for 2026/27.
With this in mind, coach Ali has delivered a targeted training programme this summer on Wednesday evenings at Tideswell multi use courts. As always summer training has been a great opportunity to meet new people, laugh and learn new skills.
The now annual Tyros vs Heros Match was on Monday 27th July. A little bit of fun but incredibly competitive. Again, many opportunities for laughter but also lots of valuable practice for playing against taller, stronger, faster opposition. Next year the Heros will be looking for the victory, but we managed to hold them off one more year.
Ali’s skills as a coach were celebrated when she was awarded The Jean Staley Volunteer of the Year by Derbyshire Netball for her contributions to netball.
The season was rounded off with the team’s annual presentation, The Trophy Awards, which Ali put a lot of time and effort into throughout the year collecting statistics, making calculations and recording hall of fame moments. We celebrated our achievements as a team and each other and enjoyed pie night at The Star Inn. The Star Inn sponsored our hoodies last season, and we would like to thank Johnny for allowing us to do our presentations in the dining room.
The team said farewell and safe travels to Amy and Ellie who are both going travelling this year, although Ellie plans to return for the second half of the coming season. We are pleased to have Bek join us. Bek likes to play shooter and brings experience in the A division, height and positive energy to the Tyros.
Tideswell Tyros’ 2026/27 High Peak Netball League season at Chapel-en-le-Frith Leisure Centre starts with our first centre pass on 15th September vs the Cobras. From 7th September, we will be at Buxton Community School on Mondays 6:45–7:45pm for Back to Netball led by Ali. If you would like to get back into netball – whether you haven’t played since you were a teenager, had a few years out, or are currently playing but just want more netball in your life – just turn up on the night.
