Did you know you can order books from any Derbyshire library and have them delivered to Tideswell? Did you know you can get ebooks and electronic magazine subscriptions as well? The Library has open hours Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and there are now over twenty volunteers staffing the monthly duty rota to welcome and assist you. We have computers and printers you can use, and there’s always a jigsaw puzzle on the go if you like to do those.
The library is a great place for kids, offering an excellent selection of books for young children. RhymeTime, for babies and toddlers, takes place on Monday afternoons, 2:45 to 3:15 and is free. Occasionally this will not be run by library staff, but in these cases visiting parents/carers can still use the RhymeTime resources. The local PreSchool group has also made use of library facilities, visiting every other Wednesday when possible.
Tideswell Library will once again take part in the Summer Reading Challenge. This is a national scheme for participants from very early years to the teenage span. The idea is to enhance reading skills, to maintain reading skills during the school summer break and to promote the enjoyment of printed materials. Contact or visit the library for details (later in June and in July).
We still seek an individual to coordinate the running of the library from January 2027. Please email, phone or visit the library to express an interest. Email: CML.Tideswell@cml.derbyshire.gov.uk
